EMFACE Aftercare and Maintenance: Keeping Your Results
EMFACE requires no downtime, so aftercare is refreshingly simple: treat your skin gently, protect it from the sun, and plan for periodic maintenance sessions. Because results are not permanent, maintenance is the part most people underestimate — and the part that helps your investment last.
What is the aftercare for EMFACE?
There are no special restrictions. You can return to normal activities immediately. Sensible skin care applies: be gentle for the rest of the day, keep the skin hydrated, and use daily sun protection, which supports skin health generally. Follow any specific guidance your provider gives you.
Unlike treatments with needles or lasers, EMFACE leaves nothing to heal, so aftercare is more about supporting healthy skin than managing recovery. If you notice mild, temporary warmth or redness, it typically settles the same day.
Simple aftercare habits
- Use daily broad-spectrum sunscreen — sun protection supports overall skin quality.
- Keep skin hydrated and stick to a consistent, gentle skincare routine.
- Avoid harsh actives or aggressive treatments on the area for the rest of the day unless your provider says otherwise.
- Stay hydrated and support skin health with your usual healthy habits.
Why is maintenance necessary?
EMFACE results are not permanent. Muscle tone and skin quality naturally change over time, so periodic maintenance sessions help sustain the improvement you achieved in your initial series. Think of it like fitness — the initial course builds the result; maintenance helps hold it.
The published studies followed people only to three months, so there is no single evidence-based "your results will last exactly X" figure. What is consistent across clinicians is that maintenance matters — how long results last varies from person to person.
How often are maintenance sessions?
There is no universal interval — recommendations vary by source and by person. Rather than quote a fixed number, a good provider suggests a realistic maintenance cadence based on how your results hold and your goals. For some that is a few times a year; for others, less often.
We would rather set a plan that fits your face than apply a one-size rule. At a follow-up, Dr. Kate can assess how your results are holding and recommend when a maintenance session would help.
Does aftercare differ for the TMJ use?
For the EMFACE for TMJ indication, the treatment is likewise non-invasive with no downtime. Any ongoing plan for jaw symptoms is guided by your provider as part of your overall TMJ care, rather than by cosmetic maintenance alone.
Beware anyone who promises your results will last a fixed length of time. The honest answer is that longevity is individual and that maintenance is usually part of the plan.

- Results are not permanent and gradually change over time, but they do not vanish overnight. Maintenance helps sustain the improvement. Since studies measured only to three months, longer-term timing is individual — your provider can advise.
- Often yes. Many people pair EMFACE with injectables or skincare, spacing treatments appropriately. Your provider will coordinate timing so treatments complement rather than interfere with each other.
