EMFACE Results: The Timeline and How Long They Last
EMFACE results are gradual, not instant. Across the standard four-session series, improvement builds over the following weeks and was measured at its highest at about three months in clinical studies. Because those studies followed people only to three months, longer-term duration is best described honestly rather than promised.
When will I see EMFACE results?
Most improvement is gradual. The standard course is four 20-minute sessions about a week apart, and studies measured continued improvement from immediately after treatment through one month and three months — with the biggest change at the three-month mark.
This is different from a filler, which shows volume immediately. EMFACE works by conditioning muscle and prompting the skin to remodel, and those are gradual biological processes — so patience across the series is normal and expected.
A realistic week-by-week timeline
Think in terms of a series and the months after it: subtle early changes during the four weekly sessions, more noticeable change around one month, and peak measured improvement near three months. Individual timelines vary — this is a general pattern, not a promise.
General EMFACE timeline (individual results vary)
| Stage | What tends to happen |
|---|---|
| Sessions 1–4 (weekly) | The treatment course itself; some people notice early subtle changes. |
| ~1 month after starting | Measurable improvement in studies (about 20–23% wrinkle-score change). |
| ~3 months | Peak measured improvement in studies (about 35% wrinkle-score change; improved muscle tone on ultrasound). |
| Beyond 3 months | Not measured in the published trials; providers typically recommend periodic maintenance. |
What do the numbers actually show?
In a 33-person study, average wrinkle-score improvement went from about 20% right after treatment to about 35% at three months. A separate ultrasound study measured roughly a 31% improvement in facial-muscle tone at three months. These are averages from small, manufacturer-linked studies.
The Robb 2025 study reported wrinkle-score improvement of about 20% immediately, 23% at one month, and 35% at three months, with most participants satisfied. The Halaas 2025 ultrasound pilot found muscle "echo intensity" improved about 31% at three months. We share the exact figures so you can judge for yourself — and we repeat that the samples were small.
How long do EMFACE results last?
Honestly: the published studies followed people only to three months, so a specific "lasts X months" figure is not something we can state as established. EMFACE results are not permanent, and clinicians typically recommend periodic maintenance sessions to help sustain them.
You will see many websites claim results "last a year." That may prove true for some people, but it goes beyond what the current published evidence measured, so we do not present it as fact. What we can say is that maintenance is part of the plan for most people, and we will discuss a realistic cadence for you at your visit.
How can I get the best results?
- Complete the full series — the studies are based on four sessions, not one.
- Follow simple aftercare: sun protection and consistent skincare support skin health generally.
- Plan for periodic maintenance rather than expecting a one-and-done result.
- Have realistic goals — EMFACE refreshes and tones; it does not replace surgery for significant laxity.
Frequently asked questions
- Changes are gradual. Some people notice subtle differences during the four-session series, but the clearest, measured improvement in studies was around three months. EMFACE is not an instant treatment like a filler.
- In the studies, measured improvement continued to increase from one month to three months after the series. Whether it continues beyond three months was not measured in the published trials, so we do not claim it does.
- There is no single established interval — sources vary, and it depends on the person. Clinicians typically recommend periodic maintenance sessions. Your provider will suggest a realistic schedule for you rather than a fixed rule.
- That figure is common in marketing but goes beyond the published studies, which followed people only to three months. We prefer to state what the evidence actually shows and plan maintenance accordingly, rather than promise a duration.
